Do you remember building tents out of chairs and blankets when you were younger? Wasn’t it pretty close to the most wonderful thing in the world? Chairs, tables and blankets draped just so to make your own little private getaway complete with books, games and whatever goodies you might need while you were on your adventure.
Well, it’s icy outside. School’s canceled. Kids keep saying they’re bored, so today we are doing just that. I made the kids wait upstairs while I rearranged our dining room table and chairs, pulled all of our blankets and pillows from every room in the house together and made… in their words “the most awesome tent ever”. There were books, treat bags, their favorite animals, and even a secret “bedroom” for Ivy. They flipped out when they saw it. They have now been in their tent for an hour doing the same thing they usually do, but so excited about their new “hideout”. Hopefully the thrill won’t wear off for the rest of the day.
